Registration of recreational crafts
under Latvian flag

• There are no nationality requirements to become owners of registered recreational crafts. *

• Latvian maritime legislation does not limit the maximum length of recreational craft, therefore is possible also to register under Latvian flag also recreational crafts with length more than 24 meters.

• Navigation under Latvian flag guarantees access to European waters without any type of restrictions.

• Registration under Latvian flag guarantees that recreational craft meets all the requirements of maritime law in force in the EU member states.

• It is possible in Latvia to register recreational craft irrespective of its length for commercial use as well.

• No legal requirement to bring your recreational craft to Latvian waters before, during or after the registration process. You can keep your yacht and stay wherever you are; marine surveyors appointed by the Maritime Administration of Latvia will come to you at any port worldwide to perform all the inspections.

• It is possible to perform a survey on the basis of lodged documents without physically checking the yacht in case of a newly built or where the recreational craft is less than two years old and if it is not intended to be used for commercial purposes.

• There is possible to register recreational craft on the basis of "bare-boat charter agreement" (when a boat or ship is hired without a crew). Certificate of registry of recreational craft is valid up to five years.

• It is easy and fast to register a mortgage at Latvian ships register. There are no restrictions for the status of mortgagee whether is granted to local legal entity, to an individual or to a foreign company.
